Situated 1,500km north of Perth in WA’s second largest national park, Karijini Eco Retreat offers safari-style eco tents, eco cabins and campsites nestled at the edge of Joffre Gorge (Jijingunha), along with an outback style restaurant and access to the park’s walks and guided adventure tours. Explore a wonderland of ancient natural landscapes formed more than two billion years ago – deep gorges, red cliffs, towering waterfalls and emerald green waterholes. 100% Aboriginal-owned by Gumala Enterprises, proudly representing the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region.

Low season FYI 🍽️

Our restaurant is now operating at a reduced menu until 14 November.

From the 15 November, the restaurant will be closed for dinner service. Continental breakfast and packed picnic lunches will remain available to guests until 28 February 2027.

Undercover bush BBQ facilities will be available to guests to self cater and fridge and freezer space will also be available for use.

It’s warming up here in Karijini, and a dip after a morning exploring is sounding pretty good!

Two spots to add to your swimming list are Fern Pool and Fortescue Falls in Dales Gorge. Think freshwater, ancient red rock and a very welcome chance to cool off.

Pack your swimmers, head out early and make a day of it before returning to your tent at Karijini Eco Retreat.

Kalamina gorge can be easy to overlook when planning your Karijini adventure.

While not among the largest in Karijini, it is definitely one of the most picturesque.

A 5 minute walk takes you down a steep track to the base of the Gorge to a small permanent pool, complete with waterfall and draping ferns 🌿

ℹ️ Kalamina is the shallowest of Karijini’s gorges and makes a great introduction to the park’s landscapes.

The 2km Gorge Rim Trail is the perfect way to experience the scale and beauty of Dales Gorge, with sweeping views of iron-red cliffs, native cypress groves and snappy gums. 🌿

This time of year, keep an eye out for vibrant wildflowers like mulla mulla. 🌸

The trail traces the rim between Fortescue Falls and Circular Pool Lookout — and what better way to finish than with a refreshing dip and the sound of water flowing through the gorge?
