Silvermist is a luxury self-contained holiday home in the heart of the picturesque and world heritage Blue Mountains. Set amongst other beautiful heritage homes on historic Lurline Street, Katoomba's "tourist Mile". Silvermist is conveniently situated between the vibrant town centre, with its numerous galleries, cafes and restaurants, and the world famous Three Sisters at Echo Point and Scenic Wo

rld. A leisurely walk in either direction. Silvermist is a beautiful example of the Art Deco era of the 1920’s and 30’s with stained glass windows. Lovingly restored to its former glory, the home is a warm and inviting retreat with a subtle blend of old world charm and modern comfortable features. Silvermist has 4 bedrooms (5 beds: 1 x King, 1 x Double + 1 Single plus 2 x Double Bunks) and can comfortably accommodate up to 9 persons (from 7 singles to 2 couples + 5 singles). There are two modern bathrooms both with under floor heated tiles. A fully equipped modern kitchen (stainless steel range, fridge, microwave, dishwasher). Electric blankets, linen, towels, toiletries and basic cooking supplies are all provided. There are ample living spaces including a generous lounge room with a slow combustion wood fire, a sunroom leading onto the sun soaked front veranda through frosted french doors. A separate formal dining room has another gas open fire, original polished floors and lead light doors. While Silvermist is completely centrally heated for your comfort, the Edwardian fireplaces are perfect for those who love to curl up in front of the fire with a good book !

OPEN FOR VISTAS 2020 ~ WELCOME BACK

As a photographer one is drawn to the unique, or emotionally charged. That can be beauty or pain or reality or fantasy. It is true to say that a wondrous sunrise in a distant location is partly fantasy as many people rarely witness it. So is true of the fire areas at the moment. The distant reality for many, has to be captured as much as the pristine, beauty of the natural world - and you can also make the sadness, have it's own beauty.

But there is still more than enough untouched areas around the Blue Mountains at the moment and more and more areas are being re-opened. I put together a little compilation of some spots around the Jamison and the Grose in the past two days - as I said on the image, the fires are gone, the rains have come and many walks are now safe and open.

PUNISHMENT ~ PULPIT ROCK ~ GROSE VALLEY

This mornings brief colour. Hiking to sunrise spots in the dark & cold is not everyone's favourite pastime, for some a punishment. For photographers who go beyond the car park lookouts one is often rewarded not just with a unique vista with spectacular skies but the fact you experience it alone, at one with the moment and one of natures gifts.
