Low-lying parts of TWEED HEADS, TWEED HEADS WEST, TWEED HEADS SOUTH, BANORA POINT, CHINDERAH, FINGAL, BILAMBIL, SEAGULLS - EVACUATE NOW ⚠️⚠️

NSW SES is directing people in low lying parts of Chinderah, Fingal Head, Bilambil, Banora Point, Seagulls Estate and low-lying parts of Tweed Heads to evacuate the high danger area to higher ground.

Once floodwater passes 1.6 metres on the Barneys Point gauge at Chinderah roads will begin to close.

Flood Emergency Advice issued for Northern Rivers NSW SES

UNPRECEDENTED FLOODING IN THE NORTHERN RIVERS

NSW SES HAVE DECLARED THAT AREAS IN THE NORTHERN RIVERS NEED TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE STEPS FOR THEIR SAFETY.

You should immediately move to the highest safest place now, such as higher ground or inside a sturdy multi story building as high above water levels as possible. Move away from floodwaters as best you can. Do not enter flood water.

THIS FLOOD EVENT IS AN EXTREME RISK TO LIFE.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES TO GET TO EVERYONE.

MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND

Late last night we were notified by NSW Health that anyone who attended the Kingscliff Beach Hotel on Sunday the 19th of September between 4pm and 9pm is considered a close contact of a COVID-19 case.

As per the requirement of NSW Health, we have closed the Kingscliff Beach Hotel and we will remain closed until advised by NSW Health.

Please stay safe and thanks for the many messages of support and encouragement for our staff.

COVID is not easy on anyone. Our priority is the safety of our staff and community.

⚠️REGIONAL NSW LOCKDOWN TO BE ANNOUNCED⚠️

All of New South Wales will be locked down from five o’clock this afternoon.

The ABC understands the stay-at-home orders will be in place for a week.

New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the measures were designed to "minimise movement and protect our communities from the evolving COVID situation in Sydney".

Nationals MLC Ben Franklin said it means the lockdown of four Northern Rivers Local Government Areas would be extended.

“For residents in the Lismore, Ballina, Byron and Richmond Valley LGA’S this will mean that the current lockdown will not be lifted at 12:01am on Tuesday 17 August as originally planned, but will now be extended to 5pm on Saturday 21 August,” he said in a post on social media.
