Planning is underway for the 48th Annual Kingston Surf Fishing Competition, with the event set to return to Kingston on January 23rd and 24th, 2027.

The Kingston SE Lions Club is now calling for sponsors, with a new Community Sponsor level introduced for 2027.

“The Surf Fishing Competition is really well supported by our community,” said new fishing competition chair Jonathan England.

“Our sponsors come from right across the fishing and outdoors community of South Australia, including Kingston, the Limestone Coast, Murray Bridge and Adelaide.”

The competition is described as the largest surf fishing competition in Australia, with the 2026 prize pool exceeding $28,000.

Prizes are awarded for Mulloway and other scale fish, Shark and Carpet Shark, with a separate Junior prize pool for competitors under 14.

The new Community Sponsor option allows community members to contribute an amount of their choice, with their name recognised at the event and on the competition website.

“$20 will get your name on the board,” said Jonathan.

“This is a great way to give back to the event and to participate in the fun of the weekend.”

All profits from the competition support the Kingston SE Lions Club and its work in the Kingston community. The club donates around $100,000 each year through sporting equipment grants, educational scholarships, community facilities and international Lions projects.

The competition's new website is now live at http://www.kingstonfishingcomp.com.au
