Langlauf Ski Club, Perisher Valley

Langlauf Ski Club, Perisher Valley Langlauf was built in the summer of 1959/60 by a group of doctors and a Physiotherapist for 8,000 po It's currently licensed to sleep a maximum of 8 people.

One day in the late 1950's, Dr. Ian Monk and Dr. Bill Woods stood out on the main range beyond the one operating lift at Charlotte's Pass. Ian turned to Bill and said they're going to open more resorts up here soon, and lots of land are available for development - we should get involved! A recruitment drive among a group of Doctors and a Physiotherapist at Royal North Shore and Concord Hospitals r

esulted in 80 members putting forward their interest in a ski club. The Langlauf site was chosen, as part of the North Perisher development, by Ian and an early modernist Australian architect called Sydney Ancher. The site had actually been earlier earmarked for the Sundeck, and is arguably one of the best in the Valley (especially after the Pretty Valley and Interceptor chairlifts were built). With a 300 pound buy in for couples and 100 pounds for singles (plus a small loan from the bank) the lodge was built in the 1959/60 summer for 8000 pounds ($16,000). It was originally built with 6 beds, and may still be equal smallest in the Valley with Rock creek lodge until we got 2 more bed licences. Langlauf is a private ski club.

With the new logo came a very limited run of merch. Love how these have turned out, so if there’s more interest amongst members we’ll look at doing another print run and possibly some other designs. If you’re interested in a shirt hit the poll below or add in the comments - would need at least 20 to make it economical

Cracking day ahead. Enjoy it 📸 Louise Booth
