What amazing looking harvestmen (opiliones) !! They are in the order of arachnids like spiders and are sometimes called daddy long legs. Though these look nothing like the ones hanging around on your ceiling. I managed to witness a pretty epic battle here but no one was hurt in the process.

2 specimens of a lovely bug that has visited us on a couple of occasions. At first look it seems to be an atypical colour form of the Mallotus Harlequin Bug (Cantao parentum) our only species in this genus. However Matthew Connors has discovered minor structural differences on the underside, so it may turn out to be a new species! We will await word from the shield bug experts. 🙂
