Hidden Gem Day Trip: The Glasshouse at Lake Tyers

Looking to explore somewhere a little off the beaten track during your stay in Lakes Entrance? The Glasshouse at Lake Tyers is one of East Gippsland’s hidden gems and well worth the adventure.

Located around a 40-minute drive from Beachcomber Holiday Units, this peaceful spot offers stunning lake views, crystal-clear water, fishing, swimming, and fascinating relics to explore, all surrounded by beautiful bushland.

The drive itself is part of the experience. Head towards Orbost and stop in at a local café like KelliCake for lunch supplies, snacks and water before turning off onto the dirt road leading to the Glasshouse. There are no facilities at the camping area, so it’s best to come prepared and enjoy a relaxed picnic by the water.

Once you arrive, take your time soaking in the serenity and looking out across the lake toward the township of Lake Tyers Beach. It’s the perfect spot to slow down, disconnect, and experience another side of East Gippsland.

A beautiful little adventure and another reason Lakes Entrance makes the perfect base to explore the region.

Looking to escape into nature during your stay? Just a 45-minute drive from Beachcomber Holiday Units, the Fairy Dell Walk near Bruthen is like stepping into another world.

This beautiful rainforest reserve feels straight out of a storybook — with moss-covered trees, lush ferns, and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly slows you down.

The 1.6km scenic loop walk is easy to follow and perfect for all ages, winding its way through warm temperate rainforest and towering eucalypts. It’s a place to take your time, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy being surrounded by nature.
