Extreme weather will continue tomorrow (Thursday 8 January) across our network.

It’s time to get power prepared.

Temperatures above 38 degrees are expected in Wodonga, Benalla, Seymour and Bairnsdale, and possibly South Morang, Lilydale and Traralgon. Possible thunderstorms and wind gusts exceeding 90km/hour are also forecast for Bairnsdale, Benalla, Wodonga and Traralgon.

Tomorrow Total Fire Bans are confirmed for Northern Country, North Central, North East and Mallee districts.

On TFB days, our bushfire mitigation technology operates on its highest setting to protect the community from bushfires. If a fault occurs in these areas tomorrow it can mean longer outages as we need to do additional checks and patrols to make sure it's safe to turn the power back on.

For tips on how to prepare for an outage and stay comfortable during one, visit: www.ausnetservices.com.au/outages

• If your power goes out, check Outage Tracker for the latest restoration times: www.outagetracker.com.au
• Life support customers, please be ready to activate your emergency plan. Call our priority line anytime on 1800 818 832.
• Check on your neighbours to see if they’re ok – especially if they’re vulnerable or sensitive to heat, like the elderly, or families with young children.
• If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water.
• Fill an esky with ice to keep your food and drinks cool.
• Keep your pets cool and indoors if you can. Leave a bowl of water outside for local wildlife.
• Charge your battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones
• If you’re in immediate danger, call 000. For emergency services, call the SES on 13 25 00.

Please stay safe and share this information with friends and family.

Severe weather is expected across our network from Wednesday to Saturday this week (7 to 10 January).

It's time to get power prepared.

Thunderstorms and high winds exceeding 90km/hour are also forecast on Thursday 8 January in Bairnsdale, Wodonga, Benalla, Traralgon, Seymour and Lilydale.

On extremely hot days, the electricity grid can be under a lot of pressure. We plan ahead for summer but outages can still happen.

Be careful everyone over the next few days and stay safe!

Bit of an ominous warning for East Gippsland…

A complex low pressure system is forecast to develop and deepen off the NSW coast from late Monday. This low is likely to bring widespread moderate rainfall across East Gippsland.

Three-day rainfall totals of 100 - 150 mm are possible from Monday to Wednesday about coastal parts in the Flood Watch area.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are relatively wet following recent rainfall.

River level rises and areas of minor flooding are possible, with a chance of isolated moderate flooding across the Flood Watch area from Wednesday afternoon.

In short… we could get 4-6 inches of rain so make the necessary preparations at your place!

The best advice is to keep monitoring local conditions because rainfall totals may vary significantly and keep checking the Victorian Emergency site for the latest warnings.

As always, take care on the roads and don’t enter floodwaters… you will be placing yourself at risk and the people sent out for the rescue!

Stay safe everyone.
