I’ve just had a few days back in Victoria visiting family and dear friends which always fills me with great joy.
But today, I was filled with a different kind of joy.
I decide to take our 3 boys on an adventure and instead of driving back to the airport as we always do we caught public transport. First a train, then a tram, followed by a bus and finally onto our flight. Although the various means of locomotion was the highlight for them, for me it was the beautiful interactions I had with perfect strangers. From the train conductor taking them to the drivers cabin, to the lovely children’s author who kept us entertained in the queue to board the plane and even the mature lady who told me I was the Queen of my boys. My faith in human nature and the pure joy that can be brought by someone who is not known to us and we may never see again is humbling, especially in a world where too many of us stare at this little screen in front of us forgetting to engage with those around us. A lovely and poignant reminder to look up!
