Hello FilmClub fans , friends, followers and rampaging Radio Springers, this week some “rare and happy” gems from the vaults.. Maverick Italian filmmaker Lina Wertmuller always brings an interesting twist to her many different films she has made.
TUTTO A POSTO /ALL SCREWED UP is no exception. Her usual cast not to be seen here but instead a new cast brings a fresh twist to this wry comedy. Thought burned, we have salvaged and repaired this 35mm print and looking forward to seeing it again after 40 years.. on our screen. Screening Thurs 28th May & Mon1st June at 7:15pm. Our Sunday night this week is a double feature programme that takes us back to some early American Pre-Code Bing Crosby no less, with shimmering Carole Lombard, Ray Miland and Burns and Allen in
WE’RE NOT DRESSING. (Really? No wonder the code came in with a title like that! Naughty Bing!). Support TBA.
(Hoping IT’S NO SIN with June East).
This screens Sun 31st May 7:15pm. If you would like to receive updates from The FilmClub please text your name and mobile contact to 0408 996 285.

Hello FilmClub fans and raging Radio Springers, Alan Alda, Diana Shore and Rosalind Russell’s nephew have Australian bush nurse Elizabeth Kenny to thank regarding her groundbreaking polio work in their recuperation. We’ve
recently been working on this print and look forward to presenting the brilliant RKO picture SISTER KENNY starring Rosalind Russell who was nominated for an academy award for her performance in this picture. This screens Thursday the 14th and Monday, 18 May at 7:15 pm. A rare and unsung classic not to be missed.
45 years ago The Carlton Moviehouse screened a season ( direct from MIFF) of the restored version of Norman Dawn’s 1927 silent feature
FOR THE TERM OF HIS NATURAL LIFE
(It was the most expensive silent film ever made in Australia). It originally screened at the Capitol Theatre Melbourne in June 1927. An amazing spectacle picture unfortunately overshadowed by the introduction of talkies. Continuing our love for silent film we are pleased to screen this gem
this Sun 17th May at 7:15pm. This is the full uncut tinted version. As always bar open at six and celluloid rolling at 7:15 pm. Yes bring your own food.
If you would like to receive FilmClub updates please text your name and phone contact details to 0408 996 285. See you soon at The Henri Langlois Screening Room soon.

Hello FilmClub fans and rampaging Radio Springers, great news that we have found writer director Ann Turner’s sensational first feature CELIA , a forgotten Australian classic feature.
“A subtly affecting rights -of -passage drama … beautifully explores the fear which so often explores childhood perception”. Time Out. This screens Thurs 7th & Mon 11th May at 7:15pm. We’re looking forward to screening more Australian forgotten pictures. Sunday 10th May at 7:15pm we’re screening two Val Lewton produced classics, to celebrate his birthday,
THE BODY SNATCHER directed by Robert Wise plus THE LEOPARD MAN directed by Jacques Tourneur. Unfortunately the scheduled print of CAT PEOPLE (42) has vinegar syndrome and for the moment is unrunnable.. We hope to be able to bring it back to a viewing condition in the future but for now it’s in film hospital… If you would like screenings updates please text your name and phone contact to 0408996285. Coming… More film noir, more American pre-code and some great Italian and French films.. and Australian rarities.. Bar opens at 6:00pm. See you at the Henri Langlois Screening Room soon.

Hello FilmClub fans and Radio Springers, our Sunday evening 3rd May 7:15pm American Pre-Code double feature presentation continues with rarities from the vault. Ramon Novarro starring in HUDDLE was to be a dark and swathing replacement for Valentino but was not to be.. The depression hit everyone very hard including cinema. The film was buried for many years.
THE MAN FROM YESTERDAY with Claudette Colbert on the rise starring with silent star Clive Brook is another rarity not readily available on any format.
Final screening Monday night 4th May of CAMILLE CLAUDEL 7:15pm. Don’t miss it. Bar open for drinks at 6:00pm, celluloid rolling at 7:15pm. See you soon.
