It's been a hot minute since I've posted here but I just wanted to share my amazing Easter weekend. I never get to go away at Easter because the cottages are always booked but this year there was a cancellation for Kalimna so I seized the opportunity to stay there myself. A mini holiday just a few hundred meters from my house. It felt like I was miles away! What an absolute joy to kick back and just do nothing for long periods of time. I read a novel, I played guitar, I cooked, I relaxed in front of the fire. I also did a bit of maintenance, but at an easy pace. It was perfect. ❤️

Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful 2023!

It's been over six months since I've posted here. Occasionally I feel a little guilty for not posting updates, however, as time goes on I've become more and more averse to social media. The pressure to post all the right images, say all the right things, saturate newsfeeds with marketing dressed up as news...it's all a bit much sometimes.

This year has been a good one with very little of note to report from Yeranda, to be honest. We had a steady stream of guests, old and new, enjoying the tranquility and immersing themselves in nature. Some who haven't visited for 10-20 years returned this year, some made their annual pilgrimage and many discovered our magic for the first time. Everyone left happy and rejuvenated.

I hope your 2023 is a beauty and you get to visit us at some stage over the year. Yeranda is looking glorious after two wet summers with this one shaping up to be the same. Dungog is thriving and the locals are as welcoming and friendly as ever. We are blessed to have a vibrant community of great people doing all sorts of creative and interesting things here. It's an extraordinary place to live...and visit.

Dearest guests, past, present and future...look at this beautiful cottage and that blue sky! Due to a twist of fate (aka a booking stuff up by yours truly) Kalimna is available for the Queen's Birthday long weekend. With just a week to go, this is literally unheard of in 26 years of Kalimna providing a quality retreat for the weekend of the second Monday in June. If you're a last minute decision maker like me, this is your chance to snap up a booking that usually has to be made 6 months in advance. I guarantee you will have an amazing stay with evenings spent in front of a blazing fire. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee the blue sky. 😃

Kalimna Cottage was graced with a visit from guests Mal and Charisse this week and Mal took these amazing shots with his drone. The bird's eye view really puts Yeranda into perspective - 360 degrees of green. ❤️

On Wednesday our little wholefoods co-operative store opened to the public for the first time. Right in the centre of Dungog, it's a cracker of a shop with some outstanding healthy produce, much of it sourced locally. We're very proud to be a sponsor and I'm even prouder of my friends who worked tirelessly, giving their time and skills to create something magical for our community (and you!). Next time you stay at Yeranda, please check it out and buy yourself some yummy food. By the people, for the people, of the people. This is what a progressive, healthy rural community looks like. 🙂

The pandemic hasn't stopped our little community from moving ahead. This year the idea of a wholefood co-op was floated and through the hard work of a founding committee, including Yeranda's lovely neighbours Anna and Jimmy, the idea has become a reality.

The co-op will be open for business at 152 Dowling Street from early next year but before that happens it needs to reach a critical mass of at least 200 members so funds are available to set up the shop infrastructure and stock it.

If you're a guest who regularly visits Yeranda (and there are quite a few of you out there) I urge you to consider becoming a member of the co-op. For just $35 you can become a member. Not only do you get a discount on food bought at the shop but you also get a warm fuzzy feeling from investing in our little community.

It seems like we're on the downhill run...if you live in an LGA under stay at home orders (as most of our guests do) you will be free to visit from around October 25th if you are fully vaccinated. That's something to celebrate! In the meantime, please enjoy these wildlife pics I've taken at Yeranda this week.
