THURSDAY AUGUST 27 - DAVE WELLS

The Road to Lightning Ridge is an intimate solo/duo performance and community fundraiser supporting Dave’s upcoming artist residency in Lightning Ridge, NSW.

In September, Dave will travel west for a regional arts residency connected to Tin Camp Studios and THE Hungry Spirit, spending time in the Lightning Ridge community, developing new creative work, connecting with local artists, and headlining a special performance as part of the program.

For this one-off Maitland send-off show, Dave will perform a stripped-back set of original songs, including new material, unreleased personal favourites, and selected songs from across his catalogue, joined by Loretta Wells on backing vocals for what will be an intimate and memorable evening. Funds raised through ticket sales will help support Dave’s journey, with remaining profits directed towards creative arts outcomes in Lightning Ridge and other needs identified by the community and project team. Tickets can be purchased using the link below!

THIS SUNDAY 👉 LES POÉTS POP

Les Poètes Pop surfaced above COVID19 and formed by an accidental meeting in a dive bar in Newcastle, Australia.
Instigated by the flowing modern folk storytelling poetry of Gary Seeger, and his drive to tell these stories with a soundtrack. Poetry and music blending together with haunting melodies and the occasional chaos. A mix of twisted lyrics, harmonies and crashing cymbals, a rollicking yet pounding bassline, layered by angular destructive guitars that f**k up the songs beautifully. There’s an intensity to this band that is unlike others. A lively bunch of lively characters, who put on a hell of a live show leaving the audience slightly confused, slightly turned on, and slightly
scared. Think Grinderman/old-Bad Seeds, The Walkmen, Beasts Of Bourbon, with the quirk of Television or Velvet Underground or Brian Jonestown Massacre. Les Poètes Pop is music for people who like new music, but also for people who don’t like new music. Make sense?!

Les Poètes Pop has shared the stage with Mudhoney, The New Christs, Grinspoon, The Hard-Ons, Polish Club, Dune Rats, The Smith Street Band, Cable Ties, Press Club, These New South Whales and British India. We were also
honoured to perform a song with the Callaghan Choir as part of the 2023 Newcastle Writer's Festival alongside Bertie Blackman and Shane Nicholson. Most recently we entered the studio to start work on our debut record, recorded live in the studio, no overdubs, single takes. Latest single, “Blackout”, released 13/06/2025 with a smashing music video; and a follow-up, “Paper Mache Girl” out mid-2026 (both produced by Chit Chat Von Loopin Stab of Machine Gun Fe****io).

We are ready. Are you? See you from 3.30 😍

ACID ARROW - THIS SUNDAY 🤠

From the heart of Naarm, Acid Arrow emerge as sorcerers of twang, conjuring a sound where outlaw country collides with psychedelic textures. Formed by Brooke Penrose (Saint Jude, Eaten by Dogs, Little John) and Brett Marshall (Mightiest of Guns, Cash Savage & the Last Drinks), the duo draws on a rich lineage of Australian alt-country and folk-rock, weaving stories steeped in grit and mysticism. The twin songwriters alternate from Penrose's strident tenor and Marshall's husky baritone, exchanging two different approaches to guitar.

Their latest single, “Drop Your Shoulders Down”, is a slow-burn crooner that aches as much as it soothes, riding the knife’s edge between struggle and surrender, the track leans into life’s trials and the quiet strength we all need at times.

A follow up to their psyche drenched debut single "Then it Rains" that received national community radio support from RRR/PBS/4ZZZ/2SER and beyond, Acid Arrow are rollicking around Victoria and the East Coast, and will be rolling out two sets of sweet cosmic country at The Grand Junction Hotel's Junkyard.

The year was 1920.

The Prince of Wales was visiting West Maitland, and just about everyone turned out to catch a glimpse.

Looking at this photo… we’d be lying if we said it didn’t remind us of a few Grand Saturdays or Christmas Eves 😅

More than 100 years later, this pub is still bringing people together. Whether it’s for a royal visit, a cold beer, live music or a catch-up with mates, a lot has changed but at its heart, it’s still the same pub.
