On the fifteenth day of January 1969 a meeting of personnel interested in the formation of a retirement village for elderly people in the Mandurah Municipality was held in Mandurah. Mr Owen Tuckey was appointed Chairmen and volunteered to make available two acres of land for the purpose of construction of a retirement village. Building commenced for self care accommodation in 1971, and the natural

progression to hostel accommodation came to fruition in 1975, with the opening of Coolibah Lodge and major redevelopment took place in 1995 and 2000 with self care plus being commissioned in 2000. In 2002 the organization recognized its role needed to be expanded to provide community care services to its constituents and support people to live independently in the community. Today, Coolibah’s expanded role includes quality independent living, residential care, respite services for a range of carers and in home services. Coolibah –Total Caring is one of the largest stand-alone organizations in Western Australia where our services make a difference to people’s lives. In Mandurah, people trust Coolibah because services revolve around the individual.
