UPDATE (15 January 2026):
We are pleased to announce that Mansfield Shire is once again open to tourists. Current advice indicates bushfire activity has subsided enough to welcome guests back to the High Country. Please do so safely and responsibly.
*Important Exceptions: Please note that communities to the west of our Shire remain impacted by fires and are currently not open to visitors.
While the risk is low it is not non-existent.
- Stay up to date via VicEmergency, VicTraffic and Radio Mansfield 99.7FM.
- Follow all signage and directions.
- Be mindful of emergency services and residents.
Please remember that many in our community have experienced loss. We ask that you continue to extend your care, patience and respect as we recover.
Previous Post:
We know how much people love to visit us in the best little shire in Australia! But right now, even though conditions are good today, we are in a declared state of emergency, so we are asking that people continue to limit their travel. We need roads clear, resources available to focus on fighting the fires and space available to host the people who need it most.
Reschedule, revisit and return after the state of emergency has cleared and emergency warnings show that it is safe to do so. We want you to enjoy the best Mansfield Shire has to offer and we can't wait to have you back.
