Yet this iconic journey remains under threat due to years of government inaction on repairing damaged bridges and track.

A trip of a lifetime!
If you are in our neck of the woods (Mareeba Nth QLD) then this is a MUST DO TRIP!

🐊 Enjoying the great outdoors in Croc Country? Just a friendly reminder: even if you can't spot a crocodile, it doesn't mean there isn't one lurking nearby. 🚫🐊

Estuarine crocs can be found in all sorts of waterways, from rivers and creeks to beaches and oceans.

To reduce your risk in and around the water, here are some essential tips to :
🚶‍♀️ Stay at least 5m from the water's edge.
👧 Always supervise children near the water and keep your furry friends on a leash.
🚮 Dispose of food, fish scraps, and bait away in a bin or take them home.
⏰ Avoid being in and around the water at dawn, dusk, and night time when crocodiles are most active
📲 Report crocodile sightings through the QWildlife mobile app or call 1300 130 372.

For those heading to town (Mareeba) from Ringers Rest - RV Park , you may prefer to use Kennedy Hwy No.1 over the big Barron River bridge, to go to our town centre and avoid this intersection that is along the back way into town, along Anzac Ave.

The project to construct a new roundabout at the Constance Street and Herberton Street intersection will commence Tuesday, 8 October 2024 until early 2025 as the sewer main works are now complete.

Traffic control will be in place during these works, please plan for possible delays.

The upgrade to the intersection will improve the safety for road users and will address congestion, speed and visibility issues.

Please note, the plan has been updated to reflect that the pedestrian crossing will be removed.
