A short 25-minute drive south of the Margaret River townsite is the majestic Boranup Forest. 🌱🍃🌿

Known and loved by many, Boranup is an iconic stop-off location on the renowned Caves Road route through The Margaret River Region as the sight of these 60 metre tall karri trees towering above (captured here by 📷 via IG) is truly humbling. 🙌

Enormous trees however won’t be the only thing to amaze you here! This forest is a feast for the senses with the forest floor tumbling with wildflowers, orchids and funghi (in season) 🍄 together with the sounds of native birds 🦜 and the fresh smell of eucalypt.

A day down here paired with a visit to nearby Lake or Mammoth Cave is one of the best ways to experience the generous nature on offer in the south west. For those that haven't experienced this magical place follow the link below for directions. 🔗

We sure are lucky having what is probably the world's LONGEST whale watching season here in the Margaret River Region 🐋🐋🐋

Right from June through to November you can jump on a charter tour and marvel at these enormous mammals. The season starts in Augusta and the Southern Ocean, wrapping up in late spring in Geographe Bay and along the coast.

📸 Zacwhiteee saw this mother and calf making their migratory journey through the calm turquoise shallows of Geographe Bay. They'll head down to Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, feeding and fattening up ready for another migration next year.

As summer begins, we farewell the lovely whales for another year. See you soon, blue whales, humpbacks and southern rights! 💙

It's an otherworldly experience, simply being within the Boranup Karri Forest.
📸 Sandy Mammoth captured the magic superbly, sunlight glinting through the salmon pink trunks 🌱

There's the feeling of being dwarfed by nature and completely surrounded by 60-metre-tall trees, as they reach far into the distance in every direction 🌲

Birds whistle and sing as they dart about, too fast to be seen. And the breeze gently stirs the canopy, completely absorbed by the treetops. Protected by the sun, the forest feels cooler, more protected than the coastline nearby.

While simply walking through the forest is plenty, there's also fantastic guided experiences on offer for a deeper understanding of the history, majesty and delicate ecosystems here.
