Walking through the Wooditjup National Park, which surrounds the Edge Motel. A recent controlled burn over the road, gave me and Clover, an opportunity to walk off piste!
Came across this fallen Karri that was over 31 big steps (100ft tall) long! It has left a gaping hole in the canopy above, no doubt to be filled by the other trees around in time. Pretty sure it didn't fall during the fire but the rootball has all but burnt away leaving a big hole.
Wally's Walk runs the west side of the highway, behind Riverglen Chalets and towards the RAC nature park, with a circuit loop possible.
This was pretty much on the border of the Marri and Jarrah trees, which are down the hill a little and into the Karri section of the forest.
Some days we walk out behind and sometimes over the road. It's always enjoyable even on a wet day like today.
