Back to its former glory !

There’s something lovely about a place coming back to itself. This spring, Goldfields Reservoir is full again, the reserve freshly rejuvenated, and with a little more sparkle around the edges. And then there’s the old Ripples by the Res – whispers of new beginnings, and word that the doors may soon be opening again.

Gold, darling, has always had a certain allure - and it glitters rather beautifully in artistic form too. The Art of Gold brings treasures from the National Gallery of Australia to the Central Goldfields Art Gallery in Maryborough, on display until 30 August. Winter, darling - the most underrated season of them all. The fashion sharpens and the nights stretch luxurious long. One finds oneself rather amused—Honk! brings the delightful chaos of Untitled Goose Game, through the lens of Melbourne’s own House House, in a most ungoverned celebration of play and design.

Alongside it, there is the quietly compelling Capturing the Wild by Milton Moss and The Art of Gold from the National Gallery of Australia, each with their own rather dignified sense of place and history.

Then one might withdraw to the Indigenous interpretive garden, where everything softens somewhat—open Thursday to Sunday, 10 to 4, and mercifully free of charge.
