A place for quiet contemplation, is what Cathay Pacific has written about us in their recent story on the ‘Best Hotels in Melbourne’. Since changing hands recently, we’ve undertaken soft refurbishments to the interiors of our suites – a deep clean, followed by new linen and bedding, polished plaster details and surface refreshments.

Georg Jensen appliances with curves, mirror-polished surfaces and ribbing that bring the greenery of the surrounding gardens in have been introduced to guest suites and public areas, with softness brought to the brutalist design through florals by Palmier. You’ll also find Dyson hairdryers in every suite.

We look forward to welcoming you, in the warmer months, to this ‘unrivalled sanctum of peace and quiet’.

Our culture dive this season is National Gallery of Victoria’s Winter Masterpieces: CARTIER exhibition, where the exhibition design is just as striking as the jewels.

Reflecting the gemmological sources that inspired Cartier’s creations, the design speaks to the light, colour and materiality of Cartier’s gems - expanded to create distinct spatial volumes in each room.

A must for design enthusiasts, the exhibition includes works from the V&A and Cartier collection, and key international loans from the British Museum, Qatar Museums, Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, Collections of HSH the Prince of Monaco, Al Thani Collection and private lenders. It is the largest exhibition on Cartier staged in Australia to date.

CARTIER runs till 4 October, with late-night access and music residencies as part of the NGV’s Friday Nights series.

On our winter agenda - the National Gallery of Victoria Winter Masterpieces: Cartier.

Debuting tomorrow (12 June) till 26 October, we are looking forward to not only the collection of extraordinary jewels and timepieces from Cartier’s historical and contemporary collections, but also the design of the exhibition, by Rotterdam-based Studio Sabine Marcelis and multidisciplinary architecture studio, CLOUD.
