Getting promoted is the easy part. Knowing how to lead once you're there? That's the real challenge.

Jackie Boothโ€™s two-day LEAD program is designed for hospitality leaders who are ready to move from "doing the job" to genuinely leading a team.

Over two days, we unpack:
๐Ÿ”น Maximising collective performance of you and your team
๐Ÿ”น How to communicate so people actually hear you
๐Ÿ”น Taking ownership while juggling your to-do list on shift
๐Ÿ”น Understanding basic financials
๐Ÿ”น How to give feedback that actually works

Each participant also receives an individualised DISC report, giving real insight into their own leadership and communication style.

Yesterday, more than 50 industry professionals came together for a candid conversation with three outstanding leaders in Victorian hospitality: Cath Fifoot (Field Sales Manager, Lion), Sylvia Koopmans (Business Development Manager, Marnong Estate) and Tanya McAlpin (Owner and Licensee, Old Faithfulls Brew Bar).

The conversation didn't hold back.

Cath, drawing on 19 years in Corporate Groceries, shared her philosophy: "make the change, take the risk." Her advice on progressing your career: understand your behavioural and technical development areas first, then build a plan around them. And don't underestimate your team's expertise along the way.

Sylvia spoke candidly about leadership and trust: "I don't fear hiring the wrong person. Trust the people that you're training." She also had a sharp reminder for anyone feeling the pressure of outside opinion: "If you choose to listen to the noise you'll be distracted by it. If you choose to stay in your lane and improve in your duties, that's where you excel."

And Tanya reflected on how she fell into events by chance, and fell in love with it. From engagement announcements to 50th anniversaries, she spoke about the privilege of being part of people's biggest life moments: "They will remember you because you helped make that day special for them."

Thank you to Cath, Sylvia and Tanya for their honesty, and to everyone who joined us for the conversation.
