Have you met Paul yet? Paul has migrated south from Queensland and has made himself home at Melrose for the last few months. If you haven't met him yet, now is the time to camp at the Melrose Showgrounds and stir him up a bit!

We are really lucky to have Paul part of our team, meeting campers and ensuring the grounds are in tip-top shape for you. Next time you're in, make sure you say g'day.

We'd like to introduce a really important member of our team who isn't directly on the committee.

One of the biggest parts of our operation is the caretaker of our grounds. We are blessed with 100 acres of prime Melrose scenery, and with that comes a huge load to the Committee to manage - so insert Paul.

Paul has recently joined the team and has brought with him a great season (thanks mate, we were overdue for one), enthusiasm and love for Dorrington Park. Since Paul has joined the team, we haven't been able to catch him sitting yet. Always doing maintenance or mowing, tidying or chasing campers - he has been able to do jobs around the grounds that has been on our list for months (some jobs, years). Aren't the grounds looking tops?!

Working with Paul the last couple of months has been a breath of fresh air (not sure how you get fresher than Melrose), and a spring to the committees step to help support Paul as best we can. Many improvements have been made under Paul's management and is proving to show results.

Thanks Paul for choosing Melrose to be home for the time being!

Dear campers,

The BMW Football and Netball Club are celebrating the ladies behind and within the club on Saturday, 27th June. While the event is advertised to last until 6pm, we expect the ladies to let their hair down and take the opportunity for the blokes to put the kids to bed for a change.

If you like a boogie to a DJ, we encourage you to come down and join, but if you’d love to enjoy the serenity we boast, maybe set your camp up a little bit further up the hill and utilise the 100 acres we have on offer.

Booleroo Melrose Wilmington 🦁💙💛❤️ will be versing the Broughton Mundoora 🦅💙💛 - come catch all the action at one of the most beautiful country sporting grounds the state has to offer!

Our favourite bell tent BMW Ladies Day is back at Melrose.

Our favourite time of year ☔️

News came in this morning the Willochra Creek has made its way to Dorrington Park bridge - thanks to our caretaker, Paul, for snapping some pics.

In other news, the local footy and netball are on home turf today, so don’t be alarmed if the line up in is a few cars deep. Just let the gate workers know you’re here to camp, and sit back and watch the local talent - go BMW Lions! 🦁 💙💛❤️

If you are arriving over June long weekend, some of the committee will be relieving the caretaker during the day tomorrow from 11am to 5pm to check in our campers - so please see our friendly community members just after the creek crossing to check in and pay. Any time after, please see the resident caretaker, following the signs.

We had Cosi Andrew Costello and 200 horses here at the Showgrounds over the last weekend.

Thank you to Cosi, all the horses and their owners, but most of all our amazing community for banding together to put this weekend together.

Dorrington Park doesn't just boast the perfect scenery for camping, we also believe it's the best location for country footy and netball! Don't let this deter you from staying with us on the weekend though, with all the amenities still available and an array of food in the canteen, stay and watch the local sporting action right on your doorstep with unpowered camping still in abundance.

*** Note: 12 September is the Northern Areas Football and Netball Grand Final - so you'll be sure in for a treat that weekend!

If you’re camping at the Melrose Showgrounds, please aware that Tom Curtain will be there on Sunday night too!

Please note this is a paid event, not included in your camping fees. Entry is entirely through Tom Curtain and does not go towards the camping facility.
