One of the best ways to celebrate World Environment Day is simply to get outside and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Here in the Scenic Rim, we're incredibly fortunate to have access to some of Queensland's most spectacular walking and bushwalking trails. From peaceful lakeside strolls and rainforest walks to mountain lookouts and challenging hikes, there's something for every age and fitness level.

Guests staying at The Old Church are perfectly positioned to explore local favourites including trails around Lake Moogerah, Lake Maroon, Mount French, Main Range National Park, Mount Greville, and many of the hidden gems scattered throughout our beautiful region.

This World environment Day, we're grateful to call the Scenic Rim home. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, wildlife and open countryside, The Old Church is a reminder that some of life's greatest luxuries aren't things at all, they're peace, fresh air, birdsong, star-filled skies and time spent in nature.
Built in 1889 from locally sourced timber, The Old Church stands as a small example of preserving and reusing what already exists. More than 135 years later, we're proud to continue caring for this special place and sharing it with others."

Just another peaceful little resident of The Old Church creek 🐢💚

Caught this beautiful Eastern Long-Neck Turtle gliding through the water this afternoon. One of the many reminders that slowing down in nature lets you notice the quiet magic around you.

Our little creek is home to all sorts of wildlife, and moments like this make us feel incredibly grateful to share this special place with our guests.

Keep an eye on the water next time you stay… you never know who might be watching back 👀🌿

We’re lucky to have amazing local operators like Horizon Guides right here in Boonah, offering guided bushwalks and hiking adventures through some of the most breathtaking parts of our region.
