Welcome to Fitzroy Inn, one of the finest country inns in the scenic Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Only one hour from the centre of Sydney by car and 2 hours by train. Set on the edge of a rural town, this charming Victorian colonial building with its wrap-around veranda opened as the Fitzroy Inn in 1836, and was the first lodge or guest house in the State to provide rooms as well as liqu

or. Today, the Fitzroy Inn continues that hospitable tradition and recently reopened as a country inn with a fine restaurant, set amidst five acres of tranquil, terraced gardens with a stream flowing through it. The estate is situated amongst the rolling hills of the Southern Highlands on an acreage dotted with century-old oaks overlooking Alexandra Mountain. The lavender-lined driveway, beautiful gardens and picturesque paths lead to the lovingly restored Inn where a warm welcome awaits. Courtyards, corridors, light, airy bedrooms and a basement so rich in yesteryear – you can almost hear the footsteps across the stone floors or the echo of whispers from the past.

One of our most loved spaces is our silk-lined marquee.

Elegant, romantic and wonderfully versatile, it gives you a beautiful sheltered setting for your celebration, with plenty of room for your guests to gather, dine and dance the night away!

We offer our couples the choice of beautiful ceremony settings across the property.

One of our favourites is the lovely Garden Gazebo.

Surrounded by established gardens, with plenty of room for seated guests, it creates a romantic and picturesque centrepiece for your ceremony.

While the front of our historic travellers’ inn is often the exciting heart of Fitzroy Inn weddings, it has a quieter side too.

Midweek, the Inn (usually) slows down. 🍷🔥😍

Our reduced midweek rates are made for peaceful stays, a coffee overlooking the garden, a quiet corner to read, a slower morning, and the simple pleasure of being somewhere with a little history and nature around you.

And aren’t the little name markers lovely? Such a simple detail, but it adds so much warmth and personality to the table.

What a spectacular job was done of restoring this historic bridge.

The Nattai Creek water travels all the way from the Nattai Range within the Great Dividing Range and is part of the catchment system associated with the Nattai River, also contributing to the character of our estate and sustaining countless wildlife in our Mittagong area. 🦆🐸
