🌟 Shout out to the Ah-Mazing Artists of the Outback! 🌟 Just had the pleasure of stumbling upon the Extraordinary Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition during a recent road trip to Charleville. My original mission? To save a Bilby and visit the COSMOS Centre, OMG both totally blew me awayyyy! 🌌

Seeing our closest star, the SUN, through a 'Sunscope' was nothing short of mind-blowing. Picture this: a giant, pink, flaming ball of gas, complete with sunspots and solar flares. I even managed to snap a shot through the lens of the Sunscope with my iPhone. Seriously, out-of-this-world! 🔭

As if that wasn’t enough, I also found myself soaking in the Artesian Hot Springs for a few days, and WOW. I knew about The Great Artesian Basin, but did you know it’s the largest in the WORLD and 70% of it is right here in Queensland?! 🌏💦 The friendly, down-to-earth folk of the Outback made the whole experience even better.

This trip was more than just an adventure; it was healing in ways I didn’t expect. After recently losing my beautiful mother, this journey through the Outback was much needed Soul Food. So grateful for the warmth, the beauty, and the peaceful moments that made this such a special time. 🙌✨

🦉 Introducing this year’s Baby Tawny frogmouths 🌳🐣 Despite the joy, there’s a bittersweet tale as the mother passed away unexpectedly. 🕊️ Any insights on why? Nature’s mysteries. The devoted dad now takes on both parenting roles, but the sadness is palpable. 🙁 Life’s cycles can be tough. I planted the trees they call home; a tribute to a unique bond. 🌿 frogmouth

Friends say hello to 🌟"Jango"🌟 🐘 Adorable 1 year old baby Asian elephant calf (he really, really wants to say hello). While i knew female elephants have the longest gestation period of any mammal at 22 months!! I had no idea 99% of baby elephants are born at night and are nearly blind at birth.

🐘💕 Here are some fun facts about these amazing creatures, and the major differences between Asian and African elephants:

1️⃣ Size Matters!

Baby Asian elephants are born weighing around 100 kilograms and stand about 80 to 90 cm tall. They're basically like living, breathing bundles of joy! 😍 Asian elephants are a bit smaller than their African cousins. 📏🐘 They stand around 2 to 3 meters tall, while African elephants can reach up to 4 meters.

2️⃣ Ears for Days!

Take a peek at those ears! 🐘👂 Asian elephants have smaller rounded ears compared to African elephants. (Their ears are kind of like the shape of India, where they're predominantly found!)

3️⃣ Trunk Tales!

That incredible trunk is a versatile tool! 🐘👃 Asian elephants typically have one "finger" at the end of their trunk, while African elephants have two. This makes them a bit more precise when picking things up! It's like learning to use your fingers, but on a whole new level of cuteness! 🐘🥕

4️⃣ Tooth Trot!

Check out those adorable tiny tusks! 🦷 Asian elephants usually have smaller tusks, and some females don't have them at all! African elephants, on the other hand, almost always have tusks.

5️⃣ Habitat Hangout!

Asian elephants love hanging out in a variety of habitats, from grasslands to forests. 🌳🌿 African elephants tend to prefer Savannas and open woodlands.

6️⃣ Family Matters!
Family is everything! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Asian elephants often live in smaller, tight-knit family groups, while African elephants can form larger, more fluid herds.

Meeting this little nugget was a heartwarming reminder of the incredible diversity and charm of wildlife. Let's all do our part to protect these precious creatures and their habitats! 💚🌿 ensuring future generations get to witness the magic of these gentle giants.
