It was a pleasure to prepare and serve dinner for all these incredible Volunteers last week!
Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your celebratory dinner 🥘
National Volunteer Week is a time to recognise and thank the people who generously give their time, skills, and support to others. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a stronger, more connected community.
Last week, we were pleased to host a Volunteer Appreciation Evening at the Golf and Bowling Club, celebrating the incredible volunteers who contribute so much to our community, with a delicious dinner prepared by the Morawa Hotel.
It was wonderful to see representatives from St John WA, the Historical Museum, Op Shop, Community Shed, VFES and the Visitors Centre come together — with many volunteers generously giving their time across multiple organisations within our community.
A heartfelt thank you to Johnette Sasse, who after many years of dedication and contribution to our community will sadly be leaving Morawa. Your commitment and passion will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the very best for the future.
Thankyou to Volunteering Australia for the grant funding support, along with the Morawa CRC and Desert Blue Connect for co-hosting the evening alongside us.
The evening also provided an opportunity for the Shire to connect with local volunteer groups and discuss ways we can continue improving the volunteering experience in Morawa.
As part of our commitment, we encourage all volunteers and community groups to complete the Catalyse survey to help us better understand and support volunteering in Morawa, you can access the survey through the below link:

If you are interested in volunteering and are not sure where to start, visit our community directory and reach out to our local groups who will be happy to speak to you.
