Winter in the tropics means vibrant colours in our garden. These beautiful cordylines are from a section of our garden no ever ventures into. It’s a shame to waste these amazing plants, so Chris pruned a few and we’ll incorporate them into other parts of the garden where they’ll actually be seen.

This past week at the BnB we’ve had gorgeous morning views and some beautiful feathered visitors on the palm tree beside the main verandah. It also got down to a chilly 13 degrees, just to make sure we don’t forget, it’s actually winter here 🤣

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks here at the BnB, loads of lovely guests and a couple of which who were a bit out of the ordinary. Last week we had a couple participating in the annual sh*tbox car rally fund raiser and this weekend we hosted a tiny wedding party in our little garden arbor.
It’s never boring here at the BnB.

It’s a beautiful 12 degrees at 7am this morning. Absolutely perfect winter weather.

Yesterday we were very lucky to receive a box of local fruit from a delightful gentleman from Wonga beach. Thanks Anthony for the cumquats, kaffir limes and the biggest juiciest lemons I’ve ever seen. We’ve turned the cumquats and lemons into marmalade and it’s delicious. We’ve also got a surplus of grapefruit so I’ve made grapefruit curd/butter, which is surprisingly good. If I get a spare 10 minutes (so much to do, so little time) I’ll make some passion fruit butter and also some lemon and lime butter. Fresh produce into home made jams, winning 😍

We played tourist yesterday to prove that anyone can be lucky and see amazing things while staying in the Douglas shire. We had a night off which is rare at this time of year unless we plan well in advance. We took a drive up to Noah’s beach national park and the Marrdja boardwalk. These photos are of what we saw in just a couple of hours. No special tricks, just playing tourist.

After almost 12 months of travel we’re back to normal and busily trying to tame our rainforest jungle. This week Chris pruned back our bananas which had completely obscured the view up to the gorge. We’ve also taken out some regrowth saplings which were getting just a little too tall.
The early morning view with the dawn light is now picture perfect.

We’re back from our Grey Gap year. A year of playing tourist ourselves and exploring amazing places. Our guest breakfast today would easily impress, as the weather has improved and the sun is shining. Today’s guests are off to the reef.
What a view to start the day.
