𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐥 💙

Today was a special moment at Mossman Pool as local resident Lily Karpathy became one of the first people to experience the new wheelchair-accessible pool lift.

As Lily was gently lowered into the water, a group of Mossman State School students paused their swimming lesson to watch.

When Lily glided into the pool, the children broke into applause and cheers, creating a heartwarming moment that won't soon be forgotten.

Originally arriving in Australia from Scotland in 1974, Lily has called Far North Queensland home for the past 15 years and now resides in Cooya Beach. Before a spinal cord injury changed her life, Lily worked as an aged care assistant at the local hospital, caring for others in the community.

Lily continues to embrace life with optimism and appreciates the support that helps her maintain her independence and enjoy the activities she loves.

Seeing Lily in the water was a wonderful reminder of why accessibility matters. The new lift is more than just equipment. It opens opportunities, removes barriers, and helps ensure everyone in our community can enjoy the benefits of our pool.

Thank you, Lily, for sharing this special moment with us and for inspiring everyone who had the privilege of witnessing it.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy the water. 💙
