180 years at the heart of Mount Barker.

From our beginnings as the Scotch Thistle Inn in 1846, The Barker has been part of life on Gawler Street for generations. A place for banquets and homecomings, farewells and reunions, and the everyday moments in between.

As Mount Barker has grown, we’ve grown alongside it, welcoming generations of locals through our doors.

Today, on our 180th birthday, we thank the community that has supported us through it all. To our locals, visitors and team, past and present, thank you for being part of our history and making The Barker what it is today.

Friday knock-offs with your old favourite. 🥃 To celebrate The Barker’s 180th birthday, come on past this Friday from 4pm for Happy Hour drink specials, live music, and Barker Fried Chicken (served from 5pm). There’s also a signature birthday bev serving all weekend: the Barker Wh***ey Sour, made with ingredients from loved locals 78 Degrees Distillery and Beerenberg.

Come on past and cheers to 180 years of pouring pints and serving parmies.
