We are often asked if the name Alkira has a meaning. Established in 1964, apart from being a wonderfull ski club, the origins of the name are:

“Alkira” is an Aboriginal word for “bright and sunny”. For many it has come to mean “a happy place in the sun”.

And so true this is for our Alkira.

Alkira Annual Ski Club Races, 50 members, families and friends competed today. That’s 54 years of continuous annual events. This years summit race course was short and very sweet, with both the Slalom and Downhill events hotly contested with fun, laughter and a couple of spectacular finishes! ☃️📸⛷️
