New Season. New Flavours. Perfect timing for the June long weekend. 🔥

A few new comfort dishes have landed on the menu, ready for chillier days and longer lunches by the fire.

Starting things off is our Soup of the Day - fresh homemade soup topped with baked mozzarella and served with a herb crostini.

Then there’s a fresh and vibrant Mediterranean Orecchiette Pasta, a rich Wagyu Beef Cheek Pie slow-braised and tucked beneath crisp puff pastry, a classic Bangers & Mash, and not one but two mignon favourites.

Choose from our Eye Fillet Mignon, wrapped in bacon and served with creamy chive mash, mushroom sauce and rosemary, or the Chicken Mignon, featuring a prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast that's quickly becoming a staff favourite.

And if you're the type who always leaves room for dessert, finish with our house-made salted apple caramel crumble - a fitting end to a winter feast.

For History Month in South Australia, we thought we’d take a little trip back through time with one of Mount Gambier’s enduring locals. 🖤

The Mount Gambier Hotel has been part of the streetscape since 1862 - and these archive gems really put that into perspective.

📸 1870 (approx) - Commercial Street looking a little different at 3:17pm… an unsealed dirt road, a handful of curious locals posing for the camera, and the Mount Gambier Hotel standing proudly on the right.

📸 1904 (approx) - A brilliant elevated view with the hotel in the foreground, surrounded by early homes and businesses. Next door? Stables and stockyards… the original “park ya horse” arrangement before car parks were even a thought. 🐎🍻

📸 1952 (approx) - Our personal favourite. Seven classic Holdens lined up outside May & Bond Garage, with the Mount Gambier Hotel keeping watch in the background. A proper snapshot of mid-century Mount Gambier.

There’s something pretty special about being part of a town’s story for more than 160 years - watching Mount Gambier grow, change, and continue to gather people together.
