Mt Keira Scout Camp

It is with a heavy heart that we must advise our much loved Mt Keira Scout Camp is closed until further notice to allow urgent maintenance and upgrades to its utilities.

Plumbing issues were identified during a routine inspection visit last week. Tradesmen were called to contain grey and black water leaks, and evaluate repairs and upgrades.

Although tests will be needed to determine the extent of repair work, Scouts NSW has decided to immediately close the site. This was not an easy decision to make and one we do not make lightly.

The duration of the closure will not be known until further assessment work is completed. Scouts NSW is working with experts and stakeholders and will undertake whatever works are necessary.

Scouts NSW remains committed to upgrading facilities and restoring community access to the Mt Keira Scout Camp, where it has been a licensee for more than 70 years.

If you have an existing booking at Mt Keira Scout Camp, the bookings team will be in touch shortly. If you have not heard already, you will hear from someone in the coming days. Trees are looking good in this weather. Amazing how much later the Camp Jacarandas flower to those closer to the coast.

Had to move this little fellow off the road. In the last week we have had 2 snakes and an echidna near the camp entrance so please be careful for our friends.

Some of our hard working volunteers going through the steps to be chainsaw accredited. Amazing what being an adult in Scouting can lead to.
Thanks to Ron Catlin for the training and to Odin, Marshall and Brett for giving their time to be trained so we can ask them in future to remove those pesky fallen trees.

Our Flame Trees are looking good this year.
The one on the left is the first time I've seen it flower and I've been here over 6 years now.

I'm slightly offended they are leaving, maybe the lyrebirds bullied them outta their camp. Turf Wars 🤣
