Around 2009 a group of locals set up the Historical Collection to preserve the history of Mount Martha House since it was built.
It was our gift to the Mount Martha community, Mount Martha House Community Centre.
Since 2021 we have worked hard to enable the collection to be looked after by the Mornington Peninsula Shire. We are grateful for numerous grants and funding allocations to enable new display cases, museum rooms, and the material organised and recorded on a Filemaker program, and we had started using Victoria Collections. Thank you.
There are in house history podcasts which you can listen to at any time, either in house or use your search engine. There was a museum room in room 24 and a mock up bedroom from the 60's in room 11.
As the driver of this I am very grateful for all the input and assistance from the Shire Councillors, staff, Bendigo Bank Mount Martha, The Rotary Club of Mount Martha, Balcombe Grammar School, Sunshine Reserve Mount Martha, WRAAC Australia, RAAF Canberra, BERG Mt Martha and so many community people who gave items, photographs, documents and time to help set the records straight.
It became necessary for me to retire and I am assured the records will be kept intact and displayed in a much better manner for your enjoyment and knowledge. I wish them well and am very sure you will watch with interest the developments around the new plans for the Collection, which I am very happy about.
This page will remain as it is in my name and for all further enquiries please contact the Office at Mount Martha House Community Centre.
This collection belongs to the community so please enjoy and ensure its continuation.
