When Kay and Gerald Norton-Knight first moved into a ramshackle pisé cottage on 80 acres, called ‘Rosby’, outside of Mudgee as newlyweds in 1983, they dreamt of making a home and raising a family. Five acres of garden and four daughters later, Gerry began planting grapevines on the sheltered, sloping block he’d been eyeing off for years, officially calling himself a vigneron when his first caberne

t buds burst in 1996. To find a home for his Rosby vintages, Gerry turned out a few hundred mud bricks to make a cellar-door hut overlooking the vineyard, followed closely by the purchase of a neighbouring property and immaculate guesthouse conversion. While Gerry was in the vineyard and his hut, Kay was busily putting some finishing touches to her own lofty dreams, completing a fine arts degree and opening a private print and sculpture studio in the garden. Soon came an impressive line-up of visiting artists for an annual Rosby workshop program, as well as an outdoor sculpture exhibition that would quickly become the largest in Regional NSW. Kay and Gerry’s hazy 1980s dream has become a living reality, with the Rosby stable not only making a home for the Norton-Knight family, but also a vivid backdrop for a new generation in the garden, the hut, the guesthouse, the studio, and the vineyard.

There’s a new face around the Rosby Cellar Door & Gallery — meet Marni Cross.

Marni comes to us with plenty of experience in the drinks world, from distilling at Baker Williams and getting her hands dirty through two Mudgee vintages. She loves the craft behind what’s in the glass and, luckily for us, is just as happy among the vines as she is behind the cellar door.

You’ll find Marni keeping Gerry moving when he gets a little too comfortable chatting with customers, while also attempting to make some headway through Kay’s ever-growing list of jobs — a list Amber and Gerry have spent years perfecting the art of avoiding.

Come and taste Gerry’s latest Rosby vintages, catch up with Kay and hear what she has planned for Sculptures in the Garden 2026.

With Mudgee wineries, great food and live music all day, make a day of it and come say hello — we’d love to see some familiar faces.

Join Gippsland artist Lucy Hersey for two days immersed in the Rosby landscape, learning how to source natural earth pigments, grind and mix them into your own paints, then take those colours to the easel for en plein air painting.

It’s tactile, thoughtful and beautifully connected to place — celebrating the landscape exactly as it is. Dust, flies, unkempt foliage and all!

Our first August welding workshop is officially SOLD OUT, but we still have five places available for our second Welding Workshop with Maurice Berry.

Over two hands-on days, Maurice will teach you the fundamental skills of stick welding, giving you the confidence to turn scrap metal into a garden feature, artwork or sculpture.

A visit to Rosby is about so much more than wine.

With a glass in hand, take your time to wander through the sculpture gardens, explore our beautiful cellar door and gallery, and discover works by talented Australian artists exhibited throughout the year.

Every corner of Rosby has been thoughtfully created to inspire — from the vineyard views and gallery spaces to the gardens and, as many visitors like to point out, even the bathrooms are an experience in themselves.

Enjoy a wine tasting with Gerry and the Rosby team, settle in with a local cheese board, and don't leave without a slice of our famous burnt Basque cheesecake.

We are very excited to welcome local celebrity chef Rhys Gard for a Spanish Pop up at Rosby Wines for two days only this coming weekend. Rhys will be presenting a Spanish Tapas menu that pairs perfectly with our famous burnt basque cheesecake.
