There's so much to explore around us here in Naracoorte.

Coffee and breakfast downstairs to start the day, the Naracoorte Caves just out of town, Coonawarra, Wrattonbully and Padthaway wine regions close by, and Robe or Beachport near enough for a sightseeing day trip.

Then back here when you're done exploring, dinner in the restaurant, a glass of something local, and a cosy room to return to.

Friday has its own little routine around here.

Cars rolling through the Bottle Shop, a quick chat at the window, someone grabbing the usual, someone else asking what red they should take to dinner.

Our Bangers & Mash starts just down the road, with a speciality Kincraig sausage made locally by Tender Cuts Naracoorte.

Served with creamy mash, green peas, bacon jam and red wine jus, proper comfort food with a bit of Naracoorte behind it.

One of our favourite parts of bringing the Kincraig back has been working with people and businesses from right here in Naracoorte.

Our accommodation bedding is made just down the road at MiniJumbuk and we got to see exactly how it all comes together at their factory.

One of the smartest parts of The Kincraig’s original design sits right in the middle of the building.

The courtyard was never just empty space. It was designed as an architectural feature to draw natural light deeper through the hotel and open the venue up from within.

For a period in the late 1990s and early 2000s, that same space was closed to the public and used as a staff breakout area.

In this restoration, we wanted to bring it back into the life of the hotel.

Now, the courtyard has been revitalised as an outdoor dining area - open again, made to be used again, and home to our custom-built butterfly swing.

One of the nice things about being here is that local wine really is local.

Coonawarra, Mount Gambier and Lucindale aren’t far-off names on a list. They’re places we drive through, and producers doing good things just up the road.

You’ll see a few of them on our main wine list, and we’ve also got a small Local Showcase Wine List at the bar with a few extra local bottles available by the bottle only.

And if you’re picking something up for home, there’s a bigger local range sitting over in the Bottle Shop too.

Ask us at the bar next time you’re in. We’re always happy to point you toward a good one.
