A bit of a long post coming up, so here's the practical bit first: breakfast is now bookings only, 8:00-10:00 am Tue-Sun. Call 08 8743 4374 by 8:00 pm the night before to book - elsewise you'll get me (Alex) who does not cook. I can pull a mean coffee but Cam's the actual chef.
So here is a brief rundown of why we've put dinner front and centre now, since the cafรฉ was a big part of what people knew us for.
A few things lined up at once. Late last year, we took out the 2025 SA award for Contemporary Australian (Informal) at the R&CA Hostplus Awards - so we received unequivocal confirmation that dinners were working. Then, at our Christmas show last year we farewelled three of our longest-serving team members - our whole coffee crew in one go, all heading off in different directions.
Theresa was with us for half a decade and is sincerely missed by our entire family. As for Misia and Ferishta, we were fortunate to witness them over the years develop into confident young women who are now heading out to the world and we couldn't be prouder of them.
All of this is a long winded way to explain that while we miss them dearly, the world has a way of leading you somewhere - in our case, that somewhere is deeper into dinner service and events.
One last little bit. Thank you to our regulars who've kept eating with us, the locals who've sent friends our way, the visitors who've come back twice. Naracoorte's home, we love it, and we're staying put - it's just that dinner is pretty much the whole show now, so catch us Wed to Sat nights, 5:30-8:00 pm.
