Here at Wrens on Glenelg we are lucky enough to have a resident koala who loves our gum trees on our block.

 He is always happy for you to take a photo as he snuggles in his tree. He particularly loves the yellow- gum trees up our driveway.

 What would be a good name for him do you think?

Wow, what a RARE opportunity I caught on my phone today.   I was out on my walk, and spotted a Rufous Bristlebird in a tree singing its heart out. Rufous Bristlebirds are very shy and usually dart off extremely quickly if they see you, but this bristlebird wasn’t fazed by me at all!

A bit chilly down on the Glenelg River today, but the beautiful birdlife know where to shelter!

Wrens on Glenelg autumn facelift is here! Thanks to the handy work of Jack Primer Painting from Mt Gambier, the outside timber work has been spruced up.  We think it has come up a treat!  Even the BBQ area got a fresh coat.

What a gorgeous calm autumn evening on the Glenelg River at Nelson!

The balmy night air with nothing but the sound of the putting engine going by. Imagine the serenity of sitting on the landing, quietly fishing, watching the birds, or reading a book, and the occasional boat putting by.

Nelson Estuary is the ideal place to see large numbers of pelicans plunge diving for fish in shallow water or resting on the sandbars.

The pelicans who have a lifespan of between 15-25 years have an extremely wide wingspan of between 2.5 – 3.4 metres and can reach a top flying speed of 56kms! Fun fact: they have the longest bill of any living bird!

I particularly love watching them as the sun goes down over the Estuary, it is so relaxing.
