NAIDOC Week Celebration at YHA Newcastle

Last week we celebrated NAIDOC Week by coming together to honour the history, culture, achievements, and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

It was a wonderful afternoon of cultural sharing, music, delicious food, and community, celebrating the richness of Australia’s First Nations cultures. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a special event. 🖤💛❤️

Here at YHA Newcastle Beach, we are hosting a Cultural sharing night on the 28th May 2026 for National Reconciliation Week.

We have Amos Simon joining us, who will cook us some kangaroo and emu, play his Yidaki (digeridoo), teach us how to make stringy bark bracelets and share his insights on aboriginal culture.

We welcome you all to join us.
