A Sanctuary for Families
We exchanged contracts sight- unseen on our house with attached grannyflat while away on holidays two days before Christmas in 2015.
Thesedays you can see so much in the photos and the floorplans and the building inspector report could best be summed up with ‘in great nick’. I remember faxing my side of the paperwork from Mullumbimby library to marry up with my husband’s in Newcastle. It was stressful but felt right.
Fast forward two years and we have hosted hundreds of guests through Airbnb all with interesting stories and reasons for needing a sanctuary in Lambton. Most have had young children and to better cater to that we have set up a play area that is indoor/outdoors downstairs and gumtree-ed our little hearts out buying more toys and equipment.
It has served as a great warm-up business that gave me confidence to leave my 10 year Family Worker role in a government-funded organisation and start my private practice (Love Parenting) working as a Parenting Consultant/Mentor. I book out time in Retro Granny BnB for somewhere safe and nurturing to see clients and love that I always know the tea canister will be full and where to find the fresh bickie stash.
What can you expect if you stay at Retro Granny BnB ? A space where you can feel at home to trip down memory lane with some of the nostalgic decor, be treated to the odd nice surprise discreetly left for you and to be able to comfortably accommodate yourself and your kids for an affordable price in a central Newcastle suburb with minimum fuss.
