I’ve intentionally limited screen time these past weeks - still caring about all the issues I care about, but just limiting the constant bombardment of disturbing news -
Life’s been busy - meaningful and mostly, peaceful - the way I want it to be 🙏
I’m doing some support/carer work for two gorgeous elderly women lately 💚 in addition to the guiding and driving in my eco-tourism role that I’ve been doing the past couple of years - and also the occasional prior B&B guest returning for a few days stay 🥹💚
The mix of the 3 is pretty perfect for me - helping and caring for people AND sharing my passion for wildlife and conservation - honestly, I feel incredibly fortunate 🥹
I intend to maintain those two casual jobs when I re-open the B&B next year - the fresher, simpler (and cheaper 👌) version of The Beet Retreat 💚 which I’m confident will see more guests being able to justify/afford a stay with me in these times when many have to carefully weigh up where they direct their hard earned income.
I was thinking today, as I often do, how the things I enjoy and treasure most in life are basically free .. well, ok, aside from my massage chair 😅 which is my absolute favourite “thing” in life these past several months 🤣 and it was definitely not “basically” anything🤣 let alone free 😬😆😅) but I digress 🤭
It has always has been nature based for me. Sunrise, clouds, trees, night sounds… views from high places, still lakes, the way bark curls from a eucalypt… quietly watching wildlife going about their day, the little pink pads of a cats 🐾 paw, bees feeding from my vegetable garden, observing the development of flowers to fruit on my little fruit trees, watching birds bathe 🥹, the sound of wind in trees 🥹 frog and insect song at night, the way light falls at the bookends of days…
Anyway - I could write a book about all the things that fill my heart with quiet joy every single day and the deep gratitude I have in being “that” kind of person who sees it and feels it… it’s no small thing that…
Here’s to more of that in our day to day lives - xx
