🌱 Eco Style Tuesday 🌱

Tomorrow is a big day.

After six months of care, our 600 seedlings will be collected and planted into the South Australian landscape. It's always a mix of emotions — proud to see them go, but a little sad too after watching them grow from seed.

The landholder has been busy preparing their property with w**d control, fencing, and planting sites to give these young trees the best chance of success. With the rain we've been enjoying lately, the timing couldn't be better.

Soon these seedlings will be helping reduce soil erosion, provide habitat for native wildlife, and contribute to a greener future for generations to come.

A huge thank you to Trees For Life SA and the landholders who make these projects possible. 💚

Sometimes the best things we grow are the things we eventually let go. 🌱

🌱 Eco Style Tuesday 🌱

Tomorrow is one of those days that makes us both happy and a little sad.

After six months of care, our 600 Trees For Life (SA) seedlings will be collected and begin their journey to their new home in the South Australian landscape. We've watched them grow from tiny seeds into strong young plants, so it's hard not to become attached!

Today we spoke with the landholder who is eagerly awaiting their arrival. It was wonderful to hear how much preparation has already gone into giving these trees the very best chance of success — w**d control, fencing, site preparation, protecting them from stock and kangaroos, and carefully planning where each species will be planted.

It really is a team effort.

The journey starts with the landholder identifying what their property needs. Trees For Life then coordinates seed collection and propagation, volunteer growers nurture the seedlings for months, and finally the landholder plants and cares for them until they are established and thriving on their own.

As growers, we always say our job is not to make them comfortable — it's to make them strong. The goal is to gently "toughen them up" so they're ready for life outdoors and have the best opportunity to survive and flourish in nature.

With the rain we've been receiving across South Australia, these little trees couldn't be heading out at a better time.

Soon they will be helping to reduce soil erosion, provide habitat for native wildlife, improve biodiversity, capture carbon, and contribute to a healthier environment for future generations.

While we'll miss seeing them every day, we're incredibly proud knowing they'll become part of the South Australian landscape for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to Trees For Life for making these important projects possible and for supporting growers throughout the journey.

Sometimes the best things we grow are the things we eventually let go. 🌱💚

History Friday - History truly came to life for us recently aboard the magnificent Clipper Ship City of Adelaide during the South Australia's History Festival.

The “Women of the Ship” presentation was an unforgettable experience — with passionate volunteers bringing real stories to life through research, diaries, costumes, and beautifully told performances representing women connected to the ship across its incredible 162-year history.

Did you know the City of Adelaide was specifically designed to carry immigrants between London and Adelaide from 1864–1887, transporting up to 300 passengers at a time? Over the years, the ship also served as a cargo carrier, isolation hospital, and Royal Navy drill ship before almost being lost forever in Scotland. Thankfully, passionate Adelaide volunteers helped save the vessel and return her home to Port Adelaide in 2014.

Today, this authentic 1864 sailing ship is permanently docked on land at Port Adelaide, where volunteers continue lovingly preserving and restoring her for future generations to experience and enjoy.

What made this event so special was hearing the deeply personal stories of courage, migration, hope, hardship, and new beginnings — all shared with such warmth and authenticity by volunteers who had each researched and written their own character presentations. The passion, dedication, and pride in preserving South Australia’s stories was simply wonderful to witness.

If you love history, South Australia in May during the History Festival is an absolute must visit. And if you missed this year’s event — perhaps it’s time to start planning for next year!

The great news is that all year round you can still step aboard this remarkable ship on a guided tour and discover even more fascinating stories connected to the people and journeys that helped shape South Australia.

After a day exploring our rich history, relax and stay in comfort at one of our Adelaide Style Accommodation 4.5-star homes and experience South Australia like a local — because there is always something interesting happening here. 🌿🏡
