πŸŒ… Thursday Thoughts...

What if this was the view waiting for you at the end of your day?

A beautiful South Australian winter sunset... ancient gum trees reaching into the evening sky... fresh country air... and the peaceful charm of historic Gawler.

This isn't something we've found while travelling.

This is the view our guests are lucky enough to experience when staying at Country Style Louisa.

Travel isn't always about rushing from one attraction to the next. Sometimes it's about slowing down, watching a sunset, listening to the birds, and taking in the beauty that surrounds you.

Perfectly positioned to explore the Barossa, discover local history, browse boutique shops and cafΓ©s, enjoy scenic walks, visit wineries, and experience all that this wonderful region has to offer, Gawler is a destination well worth discovering.

✨ This Thursday, here's something to think about...

Sometimes the most memorable moments of a holiday are the quiet ones.

Environmental Tuesday | A Legacy Protected for Future Generations 🌿

Did you know that on 21 June 1962 (64 years ago), what was then known as Para Wirra National Park was officially proclaimed, helping to protect this special piece of South Australia for generations to come?

Today, it's a wonderful time to reflect on the vision of those who recognised the importance of conserving this beautiful landscape. Imagine how many native trees, wildflowers, orchids, birds, reptiles, insects and other wildlife have flourished over the past 64 years because of that decision.

Today, Para Wirra Conservation Park is a much-loved destination for families, walkers, nature lovers and photographers. With picnic areas, wildlife spotting opportunities and a range of walking trails, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Huge thanks to volunteers of Friends Of Para Wirra Conservation Park who make it what it is today. πŸ‘πŸ‘

One of the park's highlights is the walk to Devils Nose Lookout, where you're rewarded with breathtaking views across the landscape towards Gawler, the Barossa and beyond. Whether you're looking for a leisurely stroll, a family day out or a chance to reconnect with nature, Para Wirra offers a beautiful escape close to Adelaide.

As you explore the park today, take a moment to appreciate the foresight of those who helped protect it all those years ago. Their decision continues to benefit wildlife, visitors and future generations alike.

πŸ“ Just 50 minutes from Adelaide and approximately 20 minutes from Gawler.

Planning a South Australian getaway? Staying in one of our self-contained homes makes it easy to explore Para Wirra and many of the other wonderful natural attractions our region has to offer.

πŸ’š Protecting nature today. Enjoying it tomorrow.

πŸ›οΈ One of the Best Things About Being on Holiday...

One of the joys of being on holiday is having the time to slow down, wander, explore and discover things you might normally rush past during a busy working week.

Today we enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere in Rundle Mall, which is currently celebrating 50 years and buzzing with activity. From the colourful displays and markets to live music performances and Adelaide's famous 3 bronze pigs and Mall's Balls, there was plenty to see and enjoy.

When you're working, shopping is often a quick dash to buy what you need. But when you're on holiday, you can take your time browsing the stores, trying on clothes, discovering local products, stopping for a coffee, enjoying a meal, and simply soaking up the atmosphere of the city.

If you're visiting South Australia from interstate or overseas, make sure you allow some time to explore Adelaide's premier shopping precinct. It's a great way to experience the city like a local.

🏑 And when planning your South Australian getaway, book to stay with Adelaide Style Accommodation - 4.5 star homes - self contained - home away from home 🏑

Our self-contained homes offer a comfortable and convenient base to explore Adelaide's shopping, dining, events, attractions and so much more …

🌱 Eco Style Tuesday – 600 Australian Native Seedlings, One Big Journey 🌱

If you've been following our journey growing 600 Australian native seedlings with Trees For Life (SA) this year, here's a little update on where they are now.

Recently, our 600 Australian native seedlings (or "tree babies" as we've affectionately called them throughout the growing process!) made the journey from the city to the countryside when they were collected by the landholder and carefully transported on the back of a ute to their new home.

The landholder has since shared some photos showing where many of the seedlings have already been planted. While the recent rains have delayed the planting of some, those already in the ground will be loving the moisture and settling in beautifully.

These trees are being planted to create a windbreak and provide shade for livestock, helping both the land and the cattle. Looking at the photos, all we could think was... what a view these trees are going to have as they grow!

In years to come, they'll provide much more than shade. They'll help create habitat for birds and native wildlife, offer shelter and food sources for countless species, improve biodiversity, absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen back into the environment.

It's amazing to think that something that started as tiny seeds in trays can go on to make such a positive impact on the landscape.

If you've enjoyed following our 600-seedling journey this year, why not consider becoming a grower with Trees for Life SA? You don't need to grow 600 seedlings! Each box contains around 60 seedlings, allowing you to choose a number that suits your space and capacity or make it a business team building project?

A huge thank you to Trees for Life SA for making programs like this possible. We've loved being involved once again this year and can't wait to watch these seedlings grow and thrive.

History Friday - a fascinating farm find ...

One of the things I enjoy most about travelling around South Australia is stumbling across unexpected pieces of history.

Recently, I spotted this intriguing piece of machinery sitting quietly on a verandah. Thankfully it was under cover and being preserved rather than left out in the weather. Naturally, my curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to find out more.

What I discovered was a fascinating connection to Australia's agricultural heritage. It appears to be a Sunshine Seed & Fertiliser Drill, manufactured by H.V. McKay Pty Ltd, makers of the famous Sunshine Harvester.

Hugh Victor McKay was one of Australia's great agricultural pioneers. From his Sunshine Harvester Works in Melbourne, he built one of the country's most recognised farming machinery brands, supplying equipment to generations of Australian farmers.

Machines like this would have played an important role in rural communities, sowing seed and fertiliser across paddocks long before modern GPS-guided equipment existed. Built to last, many survived generations of hard work on Australian farms.

During World War II, Australian agriculture was critical to feeding both the nation and Allied forces. Sunshine machinery had already earned a reputation for reliability, and thousands of Sunshine seed drills were exported during this period, helping support food production beyond Australia's shores. It's quite remarkable to think that a machine like this represents not only local farming history, but also a small part of a much larger global story.

As I looked at it, I couldn't help but wonder about the stories it could tell. How many paddocks had it worked? How many farming families had relied on it? What changes had it witnessed across the Australian landscape?

What I love most is that someone chose to keep it. Rather than becoming scrap metal, it now stands as a reminder of the innovation, hard work and resilience that helped shape rural Australia.

Manufactured in Melbourne and found on a South Australian verandah many decades later, it's wonderful to see this piece of Australian history still being cared for today.

Have you ever come across an object that made you stop and wonder about its history?

What a fabulous evening!

Last month I had the pleasure of attending the FACCI - French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Gala Evening, celebrating French-Australian business, innovation and community.

As a proud FACCI member, it was wonderful to catch up with familiar faces, make new connections and enjoy some great conversations throughout the evening. Adelaide Style Accommodation was also delighted to contribute a silent auction prize in support of the event.

A huge thank you to Florence Masters and her team for organising such a polished and memorable evening. From the entertainment and photo booths to the raffle prizes and fabulous wines, every detail helped create a wonderful atmosphere.

I particularly enjoyed chatting with some of the passionate South Australian wine producers who generously shared not only their wines, but also the stories and history behind them. It was a lovely reminder of the amazing people and products we have here in South Australia.

Guests also heard from a number of speakers, including the Hon. Chris Picton MP, and we were treated to a beautiful performance by Fiona McArdle from the upcoming State Opera South Australia Golden Jubilee 2026 production of Carmen.

And yes, I was absolutely delighted when my raffle ticket was drawn and I won a double pass to see Carmen β€” what a lovely surprise!

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the evening such a success, and thank you for creating a night filled with great conversations, new connections and lasting memories.

Thinking about visiting South Australia? Along with our fabulous food, wine and festivals, we also have a vibrant arts scene. If you're here between 17–24 October 2026, why not consider booking tickets to Carmen at Her Majesty's Theatre? After hearing Fiona McArdle perform at the FACCI Gala Evening, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the full production.
