The Great Georgio!
George - Life Interrupted
Ependymoma 2016
This year has been filled with additional challenges for George and his family. Fighting brain cancer, being away from their home, living between a hospital and a rented apartment, the family are separated from each other for much of the time due to the risks and restrictions from the current pandemic, adding a huge amount of additional stress to an already stressful time.
Sweet little George was diagnosed with Ependymoma in 2016, when he was just 11 months old. Initial treatment included high risk brain surgery and chemotherapy as well as a number of other tests, medications and procedures.
Unfortunately George didn’t remain cancer free and he has spent over 4 years fighting this aggressive brain cancer.
This cheeky, kind little boy has thus far endured multiple surgeries, intensive chemotherapy, stem cell treatment, not one but two rounds of 6 weeks of daily radiation therapy, blood transfusions, feeding support, among a multitude of other tests and procedures.
Relocating on numerous occasions from Tasmania to Melbourne for treatment this resilient family continue to do the best they can to cope with the upheaval and the aggressive treatment little George has had to undergo.
Five year old George is currently on a clinical trial in Melbourne, the family is hopeful that this will give them more precious time together.
Resilient George in spite of additional challenges takes things in his stride. Sports mad George always has a bat or ball on him. This spunky, friendly, enthusiastic little boy is full of life and captures the hearts of everyone who meets him. We wish him a smooth as possible experience through his current treatment.
