Rotary Crows Nest recently donated eight pairs of noise canceling headphones to Mary’s House Services, https://maryshouse.org.au/

Mary’s House Services provide immediate critical care, safety, and shelter, and then access to legal and financial services and support to women and families that are victims of domestic violence.

This contribution has made a huge difference to their office and enabled their team to concentrate not only in the immediate surrounds but also be more focussed with zoom links with clients and external advocacy suppliers on legal counsel, safety action meetings and a whole host of other things.

Together we are stronger, in helping to fight against breast cancer.
Rotary clubs of Crows Nest and Lane Cove combined to raise funds to donate a much-needed Biopsy Driver for Breast Screen at St Leonards. This device allows women to have a much more comfortable experience when having a dreaded biopsy done. It also enables a much more thorough sample being taken.
A small example of how Rotary supports community needs one sausage at a time. Come and join us to help serve the community. Find us on Google.

On May 19th the Pride of Workmanship dinner was jointly held with Lane Cove Rotary at the Chatswood golf club. This was a fun filled evening with many in attendance. We recognise members of the local community who go above & beyond in their job , whether it be a business person, employee or a volunteer. Congratulations to our awards winners :-
Danielle Ravese, - A successful hairdresser who has built her business into one of the most successful on the North Shore. Her success has been matched by her kindness & generosity to clients, taking a keen interest in what they do, including free home visits to those too ill to visit her.
Joy Campbell-Stephen - A volunteer at Royal North Shore Hospital for over 20 years, running the Pink Lady shop/ward deliveries, raising over $5 million under her guidance.
Kerry Hammond - A Meals on Wheels volunteer for many decades. She doesn't just deliver meals, she gives support, encouragement, and a kind word , building a deeper connection with those she visits.

Their above and beyond service to community is very much appreciated and the recognition well deserved.

Recently departed Tom Sweeney, was vocational Director and driver of POW for many years, so it was very special to have Joy Sweeney join us to present Tom’s awardee, and fill in as Vocational director for the evening. Her message the next day “Thanks for a great night, Tom would have been proud.” .

We are planning to continue this as an annual event for Crows Nest Rotary.

Vale Tom Sweeney OAM

Today we remember Tom Sweeney, who served our Rotary Club and District for more than a quarter of a century with tireless energy and a generous heart. He was active, engaging, and warm — the kind of person who turned meetings into gatherings, ideas into projects, and neighbours into friends. Tom built community not for recognition but because he believed in people; his laughter, steady presence, and quiet encouragement lifted so many of us.

We mourn a beloved member and celebrate a life lived in service, friendship, and kindness. His legacy is visible in every project he championed and every life he touched. To those who knew him well: thank you for sharing his spirit with us. To those who didn’t: know that Tom’s example will keep inspiring our work and our care for one another.

Please share a memory, photo, or message below — let’s fill this space with the warmth Tom gave us. Rest in peace, Tom. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Rotary Club Crows Nest supported North Sydney Council’s ‘ColourFest’ Youth Day earlier this month with our famous Sausage Sizzle BBQ, usually experienced in all its glory at Bunnings Artarmon on the first Saturday of each month.
