From us to you, wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
May your Chrissy Day be filled with great food, great wine, plenty of laughs, and the most special people gathered close.

This year looked a little different for us, and for Miles Away Shack.

After the passing of my father, the shack was held close and kept quiet for much of the year. We needed the space to pause, to breathe, and to recalibrate. As much as we adore hosting, I simply didn’t have the capacity to do so while grieving such a loss. Life asked us to slow down, to heal, to rest, and we listened.

To those who stayed with us earlier in the year, thank you for choosing the shack and for treating it with such care. And to those joining us over summer, we are so deeply grateful and genuinely excited to welcome you.

It feels special opening the doors again, not rushed, not full, but intentionally, thoughtfully, and with space to rest. Sometimes the most meaningful seasons are the slower ones.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Miles Away Shack this year, whether by staying, sharing, recommending, or simply following along. Your kindness never goes unnoticed.

From the moment you drop your bags at Miles Away Shack, Ocean Grove begins to work its easygoing charm, gentle, golden, and perfectly unhurried.

Here, days slow down in the best possible way. Mornings begin with soft coastal light spilling through the windows, the smell of salt carried in on the breeze, and that unmistakable sense of being exactly where you’re meant to be.

Step outside and you’re moments from long shoreline walks, rock pools that shimmer at low tide, and the gentle hum of a town that knows how to do summer properly, without ever trying too hard.

Ocean Grove is a place of simple pleasures done beautifully. Coffee that tastes better because it’s enjoyed after a beach swim. Long lunches that turn into lazy afternoons at local wineries. Boutique stores, morning markets, dunes that feel untouched, and sunsets that slow even the busiest mind.

From the Shack, it all feels effortlessly close. Wander to the beach with sandy feet, explore the Bellarine’s food and wine trails, dip into surf culture, or disappear into quiet corners where time seems to pause.

And then, come home. To the warm timber notes, mid-century curves, and soulful little details that make Miles Away Shack feel like your own coastal retreat. Pour a glass of wine, sink into the sofa, listen to the whisper of the ocean drifting through the trees, and let the evening wrap around you.

This is Ocean Grove.
This is the Bellarine.
And this is the way summer was always meant to feel, slow, golden, and just a little bit magical. 💙

We’re taking things deliciously slow this summer. 🧡
For the first time in our little shack’s history, we’re not trying to maximise our bookings.

We don’t want the calendar full. We don’t want every single night snapped up. And we definitely don’t want any back-to-backs.

I know… crazy, right?
Especially with so many hosts following along to see how we do it. But this year is different.

This year, we’re easing off the pedal.
We’re in our calm-and-slow era, after a really big year, the heartbreak of losing my dad, closing the shack for a few months, navigating without a housekeeper atm (if anyone is interested please reach out), and just… needing a break from everything.

The kind of break you don’t realise you need until life taps you on the shoulder and whispers, “hey… rest.”

We have some gorgeous long stays booked in for late December and early to mid-January, they came flooding in the moment we reopened our calendar. We still have some early December and late January dates available, but we’re not chasing them.

It is our absolute joy to welcome beautiful couples, and the occasional family, into our little shack by the sea. But this summer, it’s a little less about business… and a little more about breathing out. Slowing down. Resetting. Finding ease again.

And my goodness… how lucky we are to even have that choice. 🧡🧡🧡

Here’s to a slower season.
A gentler season. A season for quality over quantity.
A season that feels like sand-between-your-toes, salt-in-your-hair, shoulders-finally-dropping kind of calm.

We’re looking forward to being tourists in our own town this summer. Beach on repeat. ✌🏼
