The Mackerel Islands are surrounded by the world’s most spectacular amusement park: the Indian Ocean. 22 kilometres off the coast of Onslow, Western Australia, the waters here are teeming with a carnival of marine life. A mask and snorkel gives kids unlimited entry to admire the action. For a front row seat, try diving through the riotous colour of the coral gardens. Test your strength above water as you try and haul in a Red Emperor or Spanish Mackerel. We’re in the Pilbara’s fishiest waters so no one goes home empty handed. On land, the show continues with turtle hatchings and amazing wildlife. Of the 10 islands that make up the Mackerels group, two provide comfortable, clean accommodation - Thevenard Island and Direction Island. The landscape offers a classical north-western Australian experience, abound with vegetation typical of the region. Our team has been busy welcoming arrivals over the weekend, and we've been lucky enough to have some absolute glamour weather to make things even easier.

A little FYI: Our tender is only as reliable as the people who use it, so we recommend bringing your own tender if you can. Alternatively, we have kayaks and stand-up paddleboards available for guests to use to get to and from your boat. 🛶🏄‍♂️

The Staircase to the Moon was the perfect way to finish off a day out fishing for some of our guests on the Mackerel Islands.

We're incredibly lucky to have dark skies, far away from most light pollution, making our nights just as special as our days. Watching the Milky Way shine overhead is an unforgettable experience. 🌙✨🌌
