Lately I’ve been thinking about how much of life we spend waiting for things to begin.

The new job.
The relationship.
The holiday.
The house.
The version of ourselves who finally has everything figured out.

And then somewhere along the way you realise there was never a starting gun.

Nobody was holding your real life in a locked drawer waiting for the right moment.

This is it.

The random Tuesday.
The takeaway dinner.
The people you love.
The photos on your camera roll.
The dreams that are still a little rough around the edges.

It’s all part of the story.

Anyone else dreaming of spring and a frolic in the canola fields?

Because personally, I think we should all be spending less time answering emails and more time running through flowers pretending we’re in an indie film.

Life is short.

The emails will still be there tomorrow.

The canola is fleeting.

Putting this here because apparently we’re already talking about 2027.

I know. It feels ridiculous.

I still write the wrong date on forms for at least three months of every year, but somehow my 2026 calendar is almost full and couples are already booking their weddings for 2027.

At the moment I have just 2.5 weekend dates left for 2026, which means my 2027 diary is officially open.

People often ask what wedding photographers are doing all day and the answer is apparently everything except eating and going to the bathroom.

From the first button being done up to the last dance, it’s a lot of running, carrying gear, fixing things, calming nerves, chasing light and somehow being exactly where I need to be at exactly the right moment.

It’s chaotic. I love it.

And yes, somehow I still find time to reply to texts.

I’d like to formally announce that I’ve started minding my own business.

Unfortunately, it turns out my own business is wedding photography, overthinking, buying snacks I don’t need, and occasionally developing feelings for people who communicate via carrier pigeon.

Anyway.

If you need me, I’ll be sitting dramatically in wine bars, creating problems for myself and then photographing them beautifully.
