Beer battered Corner Inlet flathead tails & chips.
One of my earliest food memories as a kid is sitting in a small restaurant on the wharf at Lakes Entrance eating fresh flathead tails and chips. These prehistoric looking lizard fish with venomous spikes are, in our humble opinion, the ultimate battered fish.
The almost sweet, flaky flesh when partnered with a good crunchy batter and homemade tartare sauce is the definition of happiness on a plate.
For the adult only upgrade you can wash it down with a cold pint of Pilsner on a sunny autumn afternoon sitting under the falling elm leaves of Royal Parade. Heaven.
