Beer battered Corner Inlet flathead tails & chips.

One of my earliest food memories as a kid is sitting in a small restaurant on the wharf at Lakes Entrance eating fresh flathead tails and chips. These prehistoric looking lizard fish with venomous spikes are, in our humble opinion, the ultimate battered fish.

The almost sweet, flaky flesh when partnered with a good crunchy batter and homemade tartare sauce is the definition of happiness on a plate.

For the adult only upgrade you can wash it down with a cold pint of Pilsner on a sunny autumn afternoon sitting under the falling elm leaves of Royal Parade. Heaven.

Bycatch Crudo 🐟

Bycatch - the unintentional catch of commercial fishing, and one of the moral dilemmas associated with eating fish. We work with to pick up what’s fresh and available from Kensington fish market. Small quantities and diverse species.

Thinly sliced and served raw with green olive and preserved lemon for a savoury briny edge. A chilli and mandarin dressing rounds it out with a pop of citrus and gentle hint of heat.

We’re taking a short break over Easter… giving us just enough time to make a dent in the dish pile 😜

We’ll be closed from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th April.

We’ll be back pouring beers and firing the kitchen up again on Tuesday 7th April.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter 💚🍻

Back in the 90’s, this place was a little louder, a little looser, and probably a fair bit stickier. These days it’s safer to eat the food, we’re still pouring Carlton, backing the Blues, and flying a few proud mullets behind the bar 🤟🏻 🍻 💚

By- Catch Tuesdays are back!

Every Tuesday we receive beautiful yet unintended caught fish. When traditionally these fish would be discarded we instead turn them into a delicious meal.

All the filleting and preparation of the fish is done every Tuesday in house by our chefs!

BUSH FIRE CHARITY KEG

This Friday at 4pm we’re pouring for a cause.
A keg of Love Shack Pale Ale will be tapped, and you get to name your price for a pot or a pint.
Every dollar raised goes back to Love Shack Brewery after they lost a significant amount of stock in the recent fires.

Drink good beer, do good things 🍻 🤎

As another year draws to a close we’d like to give a big shout-out to our fellow hospitality legends who work hard to put the beer in your pints and food on your plates! Especially our incredible team — it’s been a HUGE end to the year which you’ve handled with big smiles and good humour.

And to our friends, neighbours, and everyone who visited this year — thank you for bringing joy, laughter, and life to our old building. We appreciate your support and allowing us to do what we love!

We will be taking a little break over Christmas, our last service will be Wednesday 24th December and we will reopen for cold beers and warm smiles on Friday 2nd January.

Wishing everyone safe and happy holidays 💚🍻

Dave Paton first met chef Ryan when they were neighbours in Kensington, each navigating the joys of small-business ownership while raising young children. Today, Dave and his wife Charlotte run Muddy Creek farm just outside of Yea, where they raise a flock of premium Dorper lamb. What began as a shared appreciation for ethically farmed produce has grown into a long-standing friendship, shaped by quality, sustainability, great food and a few beers along the way.

We will be showcasing Muddy Creek lamb as our feature producer this month, rotating through the various cuts over the coming weeks.
