Many guests ask where they can see penguins in Penguin. There’s actually a penguin observation area just 15 minutes away at Lillico Beach. As a volunteer guide there, I help visitors from around the world discover the fascinating life of Tasmania’s little penguins. The photos were taken last night.

With quite a few Little penguins still about we’ve decided to extend our guiding season until Easter. Little penguins are present in Burnie year round however the numbers do tend to decline after March/April as penguins spend more time at sea during the non-nesting seasons.

Our guides are present from 715pm if you would like to learn more about our feathered friends.
