In 1989/1990 Kirklands sold bus #96 to Sundecker Tours and this is when she was transformed into a bright yellow open top bus!

The VDR line up, approximately 1977 as this was the year Kirklands purchased #142 VDR 942 AKA Double Deckerdence and brought her out to in Lismore NSW Australia... photo coming...
#142 isn't visual in this photo but we're pretty confident she's in this line up.

Since purchasing Double Deckerdence back in January we've been researching her history, she has been on an adventure and been painted different colours!
She was #142, number plate 942VDR.
This is the oldest photo we have found - June 1976, The Viaduct, Plymouth City Centre, Devon, England in her original condition just before she was decommissioned after 15 years of service.
We will continue sharing photos of her timeline.

An end of an era!!

It’s hard to not notice a big red Double Decker Bus, so there will be a few of you out there that know Bill the Busman and Double Deckerdence.

In 2008 Bill Davis bought the old Blue Mountains Explorer Bus an original 1961 Leyland Atlantean, Double Decker Bus, imported to Australia in 1978. With help from Bills friends, the Double Deckerdence journey began. The bus was fully refurbished into a promotional vehicle/ café with a kitchen downstairs and seating for 22 on the top deck.

Double Deckerdence has had a very exciting and full 15 years with Bill, and here’s a few stand outs!

* A mobile radio station for the B105 breakfast show and Children's Charity, raising over $300k.
* A filming platform for Channels 7, 9 and 10, and a spot-on Warnie’s Show.
* The Barmy Army Tour Bus 2010/2011
* A corporate box at the Gold Coast races
* Parading the V8 drivers at the 'Indy'
* clocked the slowest lap at Archerfield raceway

In 2020 Double Deckerdence and Bill parked up at Old Petrie Town, here they have served coffee to visitors and have been a standout at the Sunday Markets.

On Thursday 12th January 2023 Bill the Bus Man retired, sending off Double Deckerdence to her new life in Crows Nest Queensland. As you can imagine this was a very emotional day for Bill, Double Deckerdence has been a huge part of his and his family’s life.

We wish Bill all the best and thank him for all the celebrations and memories.

The new owners will take Double Deckerdence into its new chapter, they have taken on the Double Deckerdence page, so watch this space!
