🚗🚌CAPTAIN COOK HIGHWAY TO REOPEN 🚗🚌

This morning it has been announced that the Captain Cook Highway will reopen between Cairns and Port Douglas on Saturday the 20th of January at 8am, weather and construction conditions permitting.

The announcement also said 'Single lane closures should be expected for an initial time period; motorists should expect delays and plan their journey. To assist crews working on this part of the highway it is important that only essential travel is undertaken along this route'.

TPDD has spoken to and confirmed with the Acting Regional Director of DTMR, that 'essential travel' still includes all locals and visitors, both self drive and commercial traffic. In terms of delays, this will vary as works change until the highway is fully open again.

This is fantastic news and we thank the Department of Transport and Main Roads crews for their dedicated focus and significant efforts over the Christmas and New Year period.
