🌿 Stop. Look. Listen.

At Thala, there's always a reason to slow down.

Across 145 acres of tropical forest and coastline, guests can discover quiet corners, from ocean vistas to dense forest, with the sounds of the Coral Sea and birdsong as the soundtrack.

Scattered throughout the grounds, simple benches invite guests to pause, take in the view and enjoy a moment of stillness.

Sometimes, the best part of a holiday is simply stopping to notice where you are.

From Thala's garden to the table 🌿

A little taste of the tropics, grown right here at Thala.

This beautiful custard apple has been nurtured, soaking up plenty of Tropical North Queensland sunshine before making its way from the garden to the kitchen.

Sweet, creamy and wonderfully tropical, it's just one of the delicious seasonal fruits that is grown on the property.

Not the average lunch companion 💛🌿

A Sulphur-crested Cockatoo made an unexpected appearance for diners at , flashing its striking yellow crest and demanding everyone’s attention.

Swooping in and sending a sunbathing Lace Monitor fleeing, this charismatic cockatoo certainly knows how to make an entrance.... and it seems to enjoy being the centre of attention!

Highly intelligent and social, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos are often spotted travelling in noisy flocks and feeding on seeds, fruits, roots and plant material🌴

A tiny resident of the rainforest 💛

The Yellow-spotted Honeyeater calls Thala home, thriving among the lowland rainforest and woodland that stretches across all 145 acres of the reserve.

This tiny honeyeater gets its name from the distinctive yellow patch behind the eye and a bright yellow line extending from its bill.

There's something special about starting the day at Thala 🌴

Taken by one of our dedicated gardens team, Geoffrey captured the incredible colours of the sunrise. Even the moon can be seen.

Just another beautiful morning in paradise.

🌿 A little rainforest treasure

This broad-leaved Cymbidium madidum orchid is a beautiful sight to see, this one is clinging to the trunk of a palm tree next to Thala’s driveway.

With its elegant sprays of delicate flowers, this stunning native orchid is one of the many botanical treasures found across the 145 acres of tropical rainforest and coastal habitat.

Discoveries like this can be found with expert guides on the nature walk or bird, butterfly & nature walk, held weekly. Just some of the complimentary experiences for in-house guests.
